Southwestern Equine is committed to supporting young men and women navigate a path to higher education. We recognize that our youth is the future of the equine industry. We believe that the responsibility of owning, training and caring for horses equip young men and women with responsibility and moral character that have long been cornerstones of rural America. The Southwestern Equine scholarship program is designed to help students who have demonstrated academic success but are challenged by the financial weight of continuing their educational dreams.

Our program offers 3 scholarships a per calendar year totaling $1,500.

The scholarships are broken down into 3 groups.

  • Students that are currently enrolled in college and majoring in academic programs that support the equine industry. Including but not limited to veterinary medicine, animal husbandry and agriculture.
  • Students that are currently enrolled in college achieving academic success  that have participated in horse events within the past year.
  • Outstanding High School Students that participate in horse shows or events and have been accepted by an accredited college for the upcoming school year.

Is your professional goal in life to be a Vet, improve breeding of livestock, help farmers grow better crops, work with horses or livestock as a career? If so we would like to help you reach those goals. Southwestern Equine is will grant $500 this year to an eligible student in a supportive field to the equine industry.

Eligibility is based on:

  • Proof of current enrollment in a related field.
  • Accurate completed application submitted to our office by September 1st of each calendar year.

Examples: Veterinary, Animal Husbandry, Equestrian Science, Agriculture, Farming – If you feel your field is related please feel free to apply.

Group 2 - College Student & Horse Events Participant $500

Are you a busy college student and yet still make time to compete with your horse? If the answer is Yes, then you are a horse lover and we would like to help you. Going to college is hard enough.  Add to that taking care of a horse and competing in equine events can really put a crunch on your time. You are the type of student Southwestern Equine would like to help pay for some of your college tuition.

Eligibility is based on:

  • Students is currently enrolled in college achieving academic success.
  • You have participated in horse events within the past year.
  • Accurate completed application submitted to our office by September 1st of each calendar year.

Event Examples: Barrel Racing, Roping, rodeo, Jumping, 3 day events, Dressage, Gymkhana, or other horse events which you can show proof of participation.

Group 3 - High School - Acceptance Letter & Horse Event Participant $500

Are you a busy high school student that has maintained good grades whiles still having time to compete in horse events? If the answer is Yes, then we think you have your priorities in order and know how to still enjoy you life. Getting into college was hard enough.  You are the type of student Southwestern Equine would like to help pay for some of your college tuition.

Eligibility is based on:

  • Senior High School Student achieving academic success that had been accepted to an accredited college
  • You have participated in horse events within the past year.
  • Accurate completed application submitted to our office by September 1st of each calendar year.

Event Examples: Barrel Racing, Roping, rodeo, Jumping, 3 day events, Dressage, Gymkhana, or other horse events which you can show proof of participation.
